Dear Friends,
I write to you all heartbroken.
I need help understanding what happened. I wonder if it was racism that won out in Trump's victory.
And, it was a victory. Let's not kid ourselves; a vast majority of voters ticked a ballot for a man who is, at best, a vulgar, mean-spirited liar.
It seems pointless to take an account of his psychopathy, but given that it has been on full display and moved the needle so little, is extraordinary to me.
Likewise, the evaporation of election deniers is curious. It seems election integrity matters only when Trump loses. How so many Americans could vote for a man convicted of sexual assault and 32 felonies is mind-boggling.
Men who claim to love women and cast a vote for the man who openly bragged about grabbing women by their "pussies," seem to have taken a master class on hypocrisy.
God, it feels odd to write that I will support my fellow Americans and honor their positions no matter how wrong they may be. I will not storm the Capitol. I will not push false claims.
Tuesday's vote was a ticket to an America I do not know. I'm taking some time.
Stay well.
